Early in 2017, the OSPF entered into the lease of a commercial unit to house an orchid propagation laboratory. Its primary purpose was to reproduce native orchid species that were endangered or at risk of extinction.
The project was a collaboration of the OSPF, the Wagner Wetland Society and MacEwan University.
Today, the Orchid Resource Centre (ORC) has a library, an office, a laboratory, and an area to conduct educational programs and board meetings. It also accommodates space to house displays and store orchid growing supplies. Moreover, the ORC provides the space which facilitates the routine maintenance and repotting of the orchid collection housed at the Muttart.
